I deleted both of my tumblr accounts. I was looking for a way to connect with a new fandom, but it just never happened. I got chased away from comments allowance by people who hated the way I wrote a character so nastily it threatened my pleasure in writing.

I think COVID gave me a false sense of community. I had joined in March, got sent home in April. Through the spring and summer the pitch perfect fandom was lively and active. I participated in my first (and only) rare pair week. I joined another week where we created based upon Taylor Swift albums. I wrote my first 50 k chapter style fan fiction story and my first series.

But the unpleasantness of people who complain I don’t write the way they see the characters, or who have knock down drag outs unrelated to the fictions but splitting the fandom into factions were just overwhelming. I remember when a group of xenaphils had a picnic together. I don’t see that happening these days.

So I am starting over. I may never do more than have these two posts, but I remember a time I didn’t mind sharing my thoughts on a journal. I remember a time when the internet was a friendly place.

Maybe I’m just too old school. I dont know. But when in doubt, go back to the last time things worked.

I’m just afraid there’s no going home.
Well, I’ve microblogged. Tumblr, Twitter, fanfiction at AO3.

Intrigued by the idea of going back in time. Gave up my live journal after my mom died in 2008. 13 years later, I have fewer connections online than in the past, even though online gave me two of the most important people in my life.

Under the current gamification of fandom, I doubt anyone will see this. Still, it’s nice to have a place to leave thoughts and opinions without character limit.

Ima leave the settings at default till someone does something to piss me off.

Hello Dreamworks, it’s me.
